Student Enrichment Activities of the department

1. The department organized an educational trip to Manali for students from 1st-5th October, 2015. The students were taken to the village Malana in Himachal Pradesh to study the democratic set up that is practiced here which is considered to be one of the oldest.

2. Chanakya, Political Science society of Maharaja Agrasen College organized a two day fest of academic activities, 29-30, September 2015. Prof. Santosh Kumar, Executive Director of National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) & SAARC Disaster Management Centre gave a talk on “Disaster, Risk, Reduction and Sustainable Development” on 29th September, 2015. Various events were conducted in the duration of these two days like extempore, rangoli on tribal theme, essay writing, self-composed poetry on ‘beti bachao’ etc.

3. National Symposium on “India’s Soft Power: An Untapped Potential”, 26th March, 2015 was organized by the Department of Political Science. The speakers were: Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr. Chandan Mitra, Member of Parliament, Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro-Vice- Chancellor, IGNOU and Prof. Subroto Mukherjee, Professor, Political Science

4. A five day Educational tour was organized for the department students to Nainital and Jim Corbett in 3-7th October, 2014.

5. Lecture by Major General G. D. Bakshi, 27th September, 2014 was organized by the department on “India’s Foreign Policy with Special Reference to China”.

6. Chanakya, Political Science society of Maharaja Agrasen College organized a two day fest of academic activities, 26-27 September, 2014. Various competitions were conducted like paper presentation on topic ‘India’s 2014 Elections: A Shift from Coalition to Single Party Politics’; extempore, political quiz, essay writing, poster making and rangoli on political themes.

7. Chanakya society also organized a one day trip to Pratapgarh farms on 6th April, 2014.

8. Chanakya, Political Science society of Maharaja Agrasen College organized one day of academic activities, 5th April, 2014. Various competitions were conducted like paper presentation, cartoon making, extempore, political quiz, essay writing, poster making and rangoli on political themes.

9. Department students also worked in Innovation project MACNOVA-203 on the theme of “Identification of Pandanva Trail in Karsog Valley of Himachal Pradesh & Influence of Mahabharata Heroes on Local Culture and Folklores” under the guidance of Prof. Sangeet Ragi and Dr. Niraj Kumar.

10. Gandhi Study Circle organized a lecture on “Relevance of Gandhi” on 4th April, 2014 The speakers were: Dr. Nisha Bala Tyagi, Associate Prof. & Deputy Dean, Gandhi Bhawan, Dr. Y. P. Anand, Chairman, Swaraajpeeth, Gandhi Bhawan, Dr. Suman Khanna, Associate Prof., Mata Sundri College, DU. The event was followed by a Charkha session.

11. An Orientation programme was organized by the Institute of IAS Chronicle on Civil Service Preparation on 21st January, 2014.

12. An International Conference on “Gender Relations in Developing Societies: A 21st Century Perspective” was held by the Department on 19-20 March, 2013.

13. International Conference on “Gender Relations in Developing Societies: A 21st Century Perspective” was held by the Department on 30-31 October, 2012.

14. International Conference on “Imagining India as a World Power: Asian Politics, the Indian Ocean and Balancing Forces” from 15-16 March 2012 at Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi.
